Empty plastic bottles are installed in the roof, filled with water and bleach they refract sunlight. These “solar light bulbs” provide light equivalent to a 55watt light bulb.

I love stuff like this article. I thought about being a paleontologist or anthropologist when I was a little girl and things like this make me regret that I became a writer instead. It’s seriously, seriously cool to think that our anscestors might have been writing and communicating symbolically as far back as 70,000 to 90,000 years ago.

That it smacks the Eurocentric idea of the ‘Great Leap Forward’ down is wonderful IMO. I don’t buy that humans suddenly changed from no language, art or symbols in a generation or two.

…Besides, I love it when research supports my private ideas about primitive humans that will SOMEDAY go into writing The Wars of Time. Someday. Eventually. *sighs*
