*blinks*
Seriously, I spent the whole day thinking ‘okay, when I get home I need to do… oh wait. Secrets is done for now.’
It’s the weirdest thing.
But it’s a good thing that I’ve gotten used to the deadline pressure because I checked my WIP folder and um, I’ve got three Big Bangs I haven’t touched.
*screeches and flails*
Well, honestly, I think the Original Big Bang is dead. A couple of major deadlines have passed without a peep from the comm or the support comm. That makes me unhappy but what can you do?
That still leaves me with the Smallville Big Bang (one to two chapters left to write) and the DCU Big Bang.
I spent a good hour working on the Smallville BB and I’m pretty confident that I’ll get that one done on time but the DCU BB is making me twitch. I have a story I could edit (Spare Parts) but it’s still in a very rough state and I know I won’t get it all written in time as there’s still half the story to rough out, much less edit.
Not sure what I’ll do yet on the DCU BB. I really would rather not drop out as it’s only a 10K BB.
Either way, tomorrow shall be writing fun things day. Plus finishing edits on City of the Ladies (half done!). And you know, life. *grin*
Off to bath and bed for me—sleep well everyone! *hugs Internet*
Just because I feel like sharing:
“I’m a slave, Highness,” Kennet said with his own version of a wry smile. “I don’t get to be complicated about things.”
Prince Didymos nodded as though Kennet had said something profound instead of the bare reality of life as a slave. Kennet still didn’t understand the man. Granted, a lot of that was because they were of such different backgrounds that Kennet quite literally didn’t understand the majority of Prince Didymos’ references but some of it was the simple fact that they had totally different personalities.
Kennet knew that he was blunt, straightforward and generally abrasive. He always had been though he’d learned to hide it a bit since he was enslaved. His basic mode of operation was to suspect everyone of everything and only trust them after they’d proven that they weren’t out to get him. It worked fairly well for him since growing up everyone had been out to get him and now that he was a slave he was to blame for anything that went wrong, whether he’d been there or not.
In contrast, Prince Didymos was open, kind and damn near gushing in his appreciation of everyone around him. There wasn’t a single stranger who wasn’t a friend he’d just met. People who had shown that they wanted him dead were ‘mistaken’ or ‘confused’, not dangerous. He seemed to love everyone, no matter who they were or what they did.
It was confusing, to put it mildly. Kennet suspected that his automatic suspicion of everyone around him confused Prince Didymos just as badly. Still, they had to live together so Kennet did what he could not to destroy Prince Didymos’ good opinion of everyone. He seemed to be making a similar effort to live with Kennet’s paranoia, though it clearly bothered him.
“Am I sheltered?” Prince Didymos asked in an undertone that was just barely audible over the sound of the musicians playing inside the ballroom. His voice barely carried over the sound of the river at the base of the cliff below the balcony.
“Yeah,” Kennet replied. “Goes with being a Prince, I think. Why?”
“I feel like…” Prince Didymos sighed as he looked back at the party. His eyes were sad but he had one of his normal gregarious smiles on his lips like a mask.
“Like?”
“Like I’m a fool for thinking that any of them like me,” Prince Didymos admitted. “That I should be ashamed of myself for trusting anyone. It’s… the attacks are real. I know that. But some of them were made by people that I’ve known my entire life. I thought I could trust them, Kennet. I truly did. And now it’s obvious that people I trusted didn’t actually care about me at all.”
I’m writing. Original fic today, as I did yesterday. The first chapter of Artifacts of Awareness is done. This is a snippet from the in-progress second chapter. I’m thinking I may get the first seven or eight chapters done, up until the dramatic cliffhanger where Kennet nearly dies falling off a cliff in the middle of a battle is done, and call that my Original Big Bang entry.
Though… I’m honestly not sure that it’s going. :( There haven’t been any reminder posts or feedback on the comm. I’m kind of afraid that the whole challenge has died.
Either way, this is flowing better than either of my other ideas so I may go forward with this.
Kennet, FYI, is from the same world as Secrets of the Artificer Mages. He was mentioned in the book, very, very briefly, and has been dramatically expanded on in the rewrite. To the point that I had to plot out a whole story for him.
He’s also, FYI, strongly based on Jason Todd though they’re really nothing at all alike other than being big, strong fighters and rather profane. It’s the attitude I get in when I write them, more than their actual characters. Big tough guys with caustic attitudes and hearts of gold take the same mindset for me to write them. XD
Which of course means that I’m dying to write not just more Dragon Verse but also Alliance because Slade’s in the same boat.
Back to work and writing for me. I’m gonna try and finish this chapter and then go write Slade and Tim having sex or maybe Jason and Tim playing with baby drakes.
*waves*
Sex makes the world go round, I am always in favor of more sex :D
XD It so does! More sex makes things better, IMO. At least for slavefics that I intend to clean up and submit to my publisher later. *grin*
avanalae replied to your post: Mrrrr….. >.>
*pets* You can do iiiit!!
Aww, thank you Ava! I’ve plotted something out and I think that it’ll work.
I’ve wanted to get back to the Debts to Recover ‘Verse for a while so I whomped together a plot set in that world with all new characters. It should be interesting and I think it’ll have some nice fluffy sex along with some good angsty parts. Fluffy slavefic is always fun to write. ;)
Thanks for the support guys!
I ah, just realized that the first checkup for the Novel Big Bang is coming up.
You know, that big bang I signed up for where you write a minimum of 20,000 words of original fic by September? Yeah, that one.
I had planned on using the first draft of Change Comes To The Manor for that. I mean, I’ve already got 11,000 words on it but they’re only spread in three chapters.
It’s a 30 chapter storyline. *dies*
Um.
That’s… hmm. Probably not going to work.
If I go on as I have so far, the story will end up somewhere around 115,000 to 120,000 words. It’ll all be publishable once it’s cleaned up, that much I’m sure of. I designed the plot that way.
I just don’t think I can get it done in time without doing a NaNo type thing on myself where I force myself to write a rough draft chapter every day for a solid month.
Which I then couldn’t share with everyone.
Which means I get no feedback on it.
And feedback on the chapters during NaNo is what gives me the strength to keep writing at that pace.
*sighs*
I think I’m going to have to write something else for the BB. Something much, much shorter. But porny. Because porn makes everything better. *firm nod*
Now I just gotta come up with a good idea that won’t expand exponentially as I write. *whine*
I just finished the first chapter of a new original book, Change Comes To The Manor, which is a sequel of sorts to Life At The Manor just set when the next generation is hitting marrying age.
I sort of really seriously OMG want to post it.
But I wrote it, or started to write this one anyway, with the idea that it’ll be my entry into the Original Big Bang that’s due in September. And… you’re not supposed to share those stories ahead of time.
*wibbles*
I could write something else for the Original Big Bang. I could. Except that I know I’d want to post that too. I like writing WIP style and getting people’s feedback on stories. It helps me fine tune the plot and character development. Writing in a vacuum is HARD.
…really want to post it. *pouty face*
This is the third year for the Original Big Bang, where you get to write an original story big bang style.
And yes, I do believe I’ll be signing up for it. The only question will be whether I write the sequel to Life at the Manor or the sequel to Secrets of the Artificer Mages for it. I’m leaning towards the Manor ‘verse because I hope to be editing Secrets for publication very, very soon but still. I’m looking forward to more original stories to write. :D
Writer sign ups start today. Artist sign ups *nudges all the artistically talented people here* start February 10th.
Everyone’s welcome. Seriously, this is a low pressure Big Bang and a lovely way to work on your original stories and art. Hope to see people joining in! :D
