Subject: Movie Meta-thingie Almost-Rant, Not-Quite Rec-Review
FYI, this is a meta-thingie that you could call a rec or maybe a review. It’s basically me working out my thoughts about an anime I watched while at Sakuracon last week.
Which anime? Children Who Chase Lost Voices, directed by Makota Shinkai.
Be aware, I had some fairly major issues with the anime but it has some strong good points to go with its equally strong bad points. Hopefully the rambling below will be coherent. Under a cut to save everyone from my babbling—assume that there are lots of spoilers over on my DW, please.

I got the story done! *cheers*
Sound of Obedience ended up at 14,436 words for the first draft, with the last 2765 being written today. I’m really happy with the growth one of the two main characters shows in the story. Gabe (the sub) went from reluctant and nervous to being confident and happily in control of himself by the end.
And it should be even better once I edit it and expand it a bit. I think it’ll probably end up between 15K and 18K. Projected release will be the end of May.
What I’ve got coming right now is:
1) Hide and Seek (should be released this weekend on POD and ebook): another Muirin short story set when everyone’s still kids. It’s got some awesome gay characters falling in love and getting engaged and kids being kids. Projected price is $2.99 ebook / $5.99 TPB.
2) Sensory Alterations (should be released the week of April 15th, late): my lesbian SF story with the romance between the Muslim and African American girls I was cooing over a while back. Projected price is $2.99 ebook / $5.99 TPB.
3) Inina’s Blessings of Joy (Should be released the last week of April/first week of May): Fantasy story set in the same world as Secrets of the Artificer Mages but with completely different characters. Again, projected price is $2.99 ebook / $5.99 TPB.
4) Sound of Obedience (should be released middle of May): Smut/action/romance story set in my Debts to Recover ‘verse with an establish gay male pairing with some fun role swaps. The Dom is smaller and a debt slave to the sub, who is a rich, powerful master and very well built physically (think Tom Welling during later Smallville). Because what’s not to love about size differences, power swaps and BDSM on a societal level? XD And yes, once again, the projected price is $2.99 ebook / $5.99 TPB.
5) The Hole Inside (should be released last week of May): Set in my very first world, the one with the Tormal Dragons. A blooming romance between two young men who’ve known each other for years where one (the protagonist) has fairly severe PTSD and anxiety attacks and the other is madly in love with him if pretty bad about expressing it. This is the one that’s rather more personal than normal. Projected price remains about $2.99 ebook / $5.99 TPB.
I hope to get another couple of short stories ready for the middle and end of June but I may focus on getting another book out by the end of June instead. We’ll see. That’s a weekend project, planning the next book.
Anyway, lunch is over so it’s back to work for me. :D

No computer night
I got home (with pizza), sat on the couch and all my motivation drained right out of me. *sighs*
So. No computer, no writing, just TV and pizza and bath.
I did manage to hit my lower writing goal for the day so I don’t feel too bad about it. Tomorrow’s another day.

Random Headcanon
Just because I want to share it:
Jason Todd loves Classical music.
He doesn’t want anyone else to know it so he keeps more public folders and CDs and stuff with Rammstein and other heavy metal band in them but when he knows that no one is going to be listening in (except Oracle—she doesn’t count because he knows she likes to listen to Japanese Shamisen and Koto music and she won’t rat him out) he puts on Classical music and just… floats in it.
*grins at the mental image of Jason waltzing to Classical by himself*
*sigh*
Well, today wasn’t as good a writing day as I wanted. I only got about 1200 words written total, spread between an original story I’m working on (the one that’s rather more revealing of me than normal) and the desperately overdue Hurricane Sandy story.
But!
I got the bag for the Special Edition so once I take good pictures (because that cell phone picture was anything but good—gah!) I’ll get the special edition post set up.
I also got the cover for the next Muirin short story done (both POD and ebook) and did the preliminary formatting for the book (once again, both POD and ebook). I still need to print and proofread it, but that shouldn’t take too long. It’s not that long of a story, only 9900 words.
In addition, I got the story after that, Sensory Alterations, formatted for POD though I do still want to give it another go-over before I commit to the final version. It should be out in the middle of April, give or take. (That one’s about 8200 words total.)
Tomorrow, hopefully, I’ll get either the Hurricane Sandy story done or I’ll get a chapter of Baby Bird done. I want some fanfic. I really do.
Oh! I forgot!
I’m going to be at Sakuracon in Seattle on Thurs, Fri, Sat and part of Sun so don’t expect anything much from me. I doubt I’ll be very coherent. I will be having fun. I just won’t be coherent about it. *laughs*
But now it’s time to get off the computer and go bathtime so I’ll just wish you all goodnight.

In which I am easily amused
Random things that have amused me this morning:
- Free cookies! What else needs to be said about that?
- When I updated my iPhone that included an update to the Tumblr app. Now when I like something on my phone a little red heart drifts up and fades away. XD It’s cute and I love it but I expect in a few weeks it’ll annoy me.
- I brought Noriko to work today. She’s an Elfdoll sleepy eyed Ryung (I can’t remember the mold’s proper name) and when I set her down she ended up in a serious side-eye position. *snerk*
- I’m taking another class, this time on Cliffhangers. It starts on April 1st. Yes, really. *laughs*
And that’s it for now. Back to work for me!

I decided it was time for some new music on my iPhone.
(Plus I needed to update the programs really badly. *is bad and lazy about that*)
And so I went looking for modern music I might like. Got some movie soundtracks my hubby already had. Poked this artist and then that.
What’d I buy?
Classical music. *wry smile*
Somehow whenever I look at modern music I love listening to it but not enough to actually buy it. But I’ll buy buttloads of classical.
*shrugs*
Now for the wait for it all to download to my iPhone. I think I’ll go make dinner while I wait.
Today was a no computer day
Well, almost entirely. I did get to review my dash while eating breakfast but that was it. I spent the rest of the day afk.

Obviously no writing got done. I did weed some flower beds, prune my rose bushes, trim back a shrub in the front yard that was attempting to take over the sidewalk and plant russet potatoes. :D
Hopefully the potatoes will grow well.
Not sure I’ll get much writing done tomorrow either given that its laundry and grocery day, plus other errands, but I’ll try.
If I’m really lucky, the test bag for Fitting In’s special edition will be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I’d really like to have that in hand before opening the special edition for preorders.

Bath time for me!
Which is very welcome since I had an audit today (internal so I got to ask questions instead of answer them) which involved climbing up stairs and going all over the factory for an hour. I has tired leg and arms and back. *nods*
The audit was interrupted by a power outage to the computers (supposed to last 15-20 minutes, lasted 2 hours *rolls eyes*). The computers were totally down so I not only didn’t get my audit written up as I prefer I also didn’t get as much writing time as I wanted.
I still managed to get about 1800 words written today, all on the Sight story that’s currently named The Hole Inside. It now has a super-cute gay couple that’s in the ‘Desperate UST/I don’t deserve someone that nice’ stage of courtship. I’m hoping to get some kissing, talking, possibly sex, and a super-nice gesture on the side of Mr UST that brings the two of them together properly. No idea how long the story will end up but I hope to publish it for everyone to read in the last half of May.

I have the cover art for the next Matriarchies of Muirin story, Hide and Seek! Its seriously the cutest damn thing ever, bar none. Neme outdid herself on the adorable in this one. I’m going to try and get it posted for everyone to see tomorrow (baring life being stupid-busy).
I’m STILL working to get Fitting In fully approved by Smashwords. I swear to God I’m about to drop kick the whole site. They keep boinking my table of contents. *grumbles angrily* Seriously, I’m on the fifth draft of the story that I’ve uploaded to the when everyone else took it first try. *fumes*
But hopefully tomorrow I’ll have it fully approved and I can finally start the special edition for it. Not that I have the books yet or the bag. The bag has shipped though so that’s a good thing.
Anywho! I’m tired and sore so I’m getting off the computer for the night.

I’ve started another Sense story.
Yup, another one. This one based on sight and based in my very first world, the one with the Tormal Dragons. It’s… much more personal than the others.
Like, the main character is speaking and experiencing a lot of things that I feel. I’m not entirely sure that I’m going to share it once its done.
Well, that’s not true. I probably will share it. I’ll just cry while writing certain wish-fulfillment parts and then hide my face whenever anyone comments on it.
And that’s about all I’m able/willing to say publicly about it. (Though those curious/worried are free to send messages to ask privately. It’s nothing bad, just working through some personal issues in fic format.)
That said, I have made my word count goals for the day and then some. There’s still a problem with the Smashwords edition of Fitting In. *grumble-growl* I’m going to try and fix that before bath and bed. And I got the cover for the next Muirin story from Neme and only had one tiny little fix on it so that story should be coming out very soon.
*Snort* I may do a combined special edition or something at this rate. Seriously, Fitting In is kicking my ass in very serious ways. >:|
Either way, I’m off to fight the Smashwords battle and then it’ll be bath and bedtime so Goodnight everyone!

Time for me to get off the computer.
Today wasn’t a very good writing day (as in no new words got written at all) but I did manage to fix the Smashwords edition of Fitting In so I’m not too upset about it. Plus getting Erotic_fic up and running. :)
Tomorrow’s goal will be to write more Sounds of Obedience, decide whether the next book will be Daughter of Chaos (book 1) or Debts to Recover (quicker to edit and publish as DoC has to be totally rewritten), and maybe write Tim being a snarky little shit in Baby Bird with Steph and Cass.
But bathtime is calling so that’s tomorrow. Goodnight everyone!
