I’m down to 100 people that I’m following and I’m going to hold here for a while.
I’m really, really sorry about cutting those I did cut out. It’s not because I didn’t like you guys. It’s because frankly, I just had too many things to follow on my dash. :(
But at this point I really and truly don’t think I could cut anything else. All the comms are gone, the ask blogs, everything that might possibly not relate to my fandoms.
There are only friends left. No more cutting.
I’m working on another chapter of Artifacts of Awareness, which would make two today. I obviously missed this story while I was writing other things. It’s going well, and finally advancing the plot the way I wanted. One more chapter and Idris, the cute kid that Kennet’s going to rescue from his nut-case grandfather and borderline abusive mother, is going to be saved. And then Kennet gets his magic sword. :D Really looking forward to that bit of the story.
(I really hate cutting people.)
Well, last night was a pain.
See, on the way home my hubby texted me that the power had gone out at our house. We figured that it would be back on pretty quickly as there haven’t been any really major power outages at our house since we moved in. We’re two blocks from two schools and about half a block from a sub station so the power company always gets there quickly.
We had planned on homemade pizza for dinner but with no stove that was out. So instead we made burgers.
That I proceeded to turn into hockey pucks because the grill flared up to 500 degrees (literally, it has a thermometer on it) over the course of two minutes when they were almost done.
Tossed those and started again, keeping a much closer eye on the burgers this time. Okay fine, that worked.
But there still wasn’t power. My hubby, for the record, is very, very, very bad at entertaining himself. He’s used to music plus computer plus a movie playing the background usually plus something like a game or a puzzle or legos to work on. No power means none of that. No lights, other than the light that came through the window.
I was fine. I clipped my book light onto my Kindle and read. He fidgeted and fussed and grumbled and eventually, around 8:15 (three hours after the outage started!) we called the outage reporting line.
And discovered that our entire town was out. O.O
A sub station or a tower had blown out. They were working on the problem, would get power back up, no big deal. It just wasn’t happening until midnight.
Cue hubby dismay. He needs a lot less sleep than I do. I need eight to ten hours a night to function. He needs seven to nine at most.
I offered to go to bed and give him my book light so that he could read (as night was falling and the light from outside was failing). Offer was accepted, so off to bed we went, with extra blankets because while it’s May we’re still having chilly weather and lots of rain right now. Feels more like March for us.
Power came back on shortly after 9:00. Went out again shortly after that. Came on again after midnight. Went out for a couple of minutes and then came back for good.
Needless to say, no writing or doll work or anything I had planned got done last night. I didn’t even get to start cleaning up my sewing room because well, no lights. *sighs*
Either way, everything’s back to normal now except that I missed a huge amount of stuff on my dash and I don’t think I’ll be able to get back and read it all. :(
*hugs everyone* I missed you while I couldn’t get on!
Back to work for me!
